Routine and emergency work
Routine work is done on an appointment basis so please ring the surgery as required.
We cover all aspects of clinical examinations, diagnostics and treatment, as well as routine fertility work and surgical procedures.
Emergency work is covered 24hours a day throughout the year for all aspects of large animal work including calving’s, bloat, injuries and sudden illness. Out of hours messages are either answered by the vet on call or passed through an answering service, the duty vet will then return your call and/or visit immediately if required.
We can provide all aspects of advice on preventative care plans from full farm reviews to management of isolated disease and conditions.
Flock and herd health plans allow both farmer and vet to build a close working relationship aimed at improving herd health, welfare and economics.
Our vets are qualified OV veterinary surgeons in accordance to DEFRA requirements. This enables us to carry out routine and pre-movement testing.
We stock a wide range of medications and have access via our wholesaler for next day delivery (in most cases) to non-stock items.
At Vine Tree Vets we have recognised that there is a wider market to purchase your drugs from.
Our wholesale prices are similar to that of which other pharmacies are selling drugs at!
As it stands if you wish to purchase your prescription drugs elsewhere, you will need a written prescription from us, which carries a charge.
We have made huge changes to our pricing structure on most of our large animal drugs in order to remain competitive with other pharmacies.
In place of our previous mark-up structure on drugs we will now apply a flat rate of £8 +VAT on top of our wholesale price for all whole items purchased. This will significantly reduce the overall cost of drugs to yourselves.
Due to this change we are now in a position to be able to supply wormers and drenches at a more competitive price.
In house we can provide a wide range of diagnostic investigations including blood and faecal analysis. Faecal analysis includes worm egg counts as well as calf scour screens for Rotavirus, Coronavirus, E coli and Cryptosporidia. Worm egg counts are an integral part of flock and herd management especially with the growing concerns over worm resistance as well as non-existing seasons through- out the year helping to avoid unnecessary and inappropriate dosing’s of wormers. For all other testing and investigation we have use a specialist large animal laboratory.
In addition to on-going advice, the practice holds periodic meetings to discuss and update clients on current issues and diseases of interest to our clients.
In previous meeting we have covered calf sours, BVD, Johnes disease, Blue tongue and TB prevention.
We provide the full programme of necessary tests for a range of farm accreditations these include:-
- BVD and Johnes disease
- Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR)
