At Vine Tree Vets, we take great pride in our personal, friendly and caring approach to the care of your pets. As a team our aim is always to treat your pet as we would our own.
We are a truly mixed practice covering all aspects of both large and small animal health care including birds, exotics and wildlife. Emergency cover is provided by or own vets and nurses throughout the year and we are fully equipped to deal with all types of emergencies.

Meet the Team
Clinical Director & Veterinary Surgeon
Simon qualified in 2003 from Bristol and is an experienced mixed animal vet. Simon joined us in 2007 from a mixed practice in Exmoor, Somerset and became a partner in the practice May 2009 He lives near Ross with his wife Mel, daughter Mollie, son Rowan,& Bertie, Worcester and Digby the mad spaniels, rescued cat Jasp, Harris Hawk, Gos Hawk, and Barbery Hawk. a few snakes… three carpet snakes, a green tree python (it sounds like a loaded conveyer belt from the generation game!)
Simon has been studying since 2011 for a General Practitioner Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice Examination, which he has successfully passed (2013).
Amy qualified from Liverpool University in 2014, she joined Vine Tree Surgery in January 2015.
Amy grew up in Yorkshire and decided to become a vet at the age of seven.
Whilst at university Amy worked on a dairy farm, and with children who have disabilities.
Amy lives with her Partner and two dogs in Ross on Wye. She enjoys nothing more than walking her dogs in her spare time.
Anna grew up in Kent and graduated from Glasgow Veterinary school in 2005. She made the move to Herefordshire after graduating and started in mixed practice locally. Anna left Ross in 2008 to travel and worked in rural mixed practice in Australia, gaining experience in many areas including emergencies like snake bites.
She returned to the UK in 2009 and joined a large small animal hospital in Windsor. She loved the challenge there, but returned back to Ross in 2012 for the birth of her first child and to be with her husband. Anna and Ben have 2 children, Henry and Zara and a chocolate Labrador cross Springer spaniel called Tatty.
After a period of doing small animal work locally, Anna has now joined the team at Vine Tree.
She enjoys tennis, camping and walking, especially when the walk ends at a pub!
As the granddaughter of a dairy farmer, Philippa has been interested in farm work from an early age. Coupled with a love of horse riding and family collection of cocker spaniels (five currently!), it was a natural progression to pursue a career as a mixed animal vet.
Pip recently graduated from Liverpool University and joined the team at Vine Tree shortly after.
Outside of work, her focus is balanced with drama, musical (piano and clarinet) and travel activities.
Sally qualified from Bristol University in 1981 and has spent most of her working life in small animal practice, taking a particular interest in preventive healthcare and the management of chronic conditions.
She has completed a Masters degree in Advanced Veterinary General Practice and a PhD into the factors affecting clinical decision making in the veterinary consultation.
After 6 years working as the Head of scientific Policy for the British small Animal Veterinary Association Sally has joined the team at Vine Tree Vets part time,which will give her time to spend with her daughter, who lives in Germany, and her dog Noodle.
Sarah joined the Practice in July 2015. She has relocated to the area with her husband and 4 dogs.
Sarah worked as a Practice Manager in a surgery in Hampshire prior to relocating. Previous to this
she worked as a Manager with the John Lewis Partnership.
She enjoys working with the team and being able to support the practice.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys walking her dogs whilst exploring the area, and holidays in their caravan.
Head Veterinary Nurse
Ali Joined the practice in 1996, she originally worked one day a week for 6 months, then she joined the practice full time in May 1997.
Ali qualified as A Veterinary Nurse in 2005 with a credit. Ali also has other qualifications including: – SQP (Special qualified person) this enables her to dispense certain drugs. The BVNA (British Veterinary Nursing Association) dental certificate in 2011 and has now provided the practice with gold standard dental skills.
Ali has a special interest in dentistry, radiology, wound management and animal nutrition.
Ali’s position as head nurse is demanding at times as you never know what walks through the door, but this is why Ali enjoys her job so much!
Ali’s current project is to complete the advanced veterinary nursing diploma & degree in advanced Veterinary Nursing.
Ali Lives in Ross on Wye with her partner, two children, Leaf her red Labrador and cat Alfie who is a Rag Doll cross.
Ali spends her spare time training Leaf for gun dog work, attending training classes and working Leaf on a local estate. She also is a keen cake decorator and baker.
Deputy Head Nurse
In 2006 Kelly started working in a local practice where she completed her Veterinary Nurse training.
After taking time out for 18 months to work in America and Canada, She returned home and worked at an equine referral hospital as he Head Nurse.
Kelly joined Vine Tree Vets in May 2017 and enjoys all aspects of nursing, but has a special interest in emergency and critical care along with radiology.
As a keen equine enthusiast Kelly can be found competing on a regular basis, and spending time with her daughter and husband walking their Italian Greyhound “Sky”.
Animal Nursing Assistant
Jade qualified as a Animal Nursing Assistant in 2015. She has been with the Practice volunteering from 2013, since passing her Animal Nursing Assistant Certificate, she has become a valued member of the team.
Jade has a Bearded Dragon, and two dogs. She spends her free time walking her dogs.
Trainee Animal Nursing Assistant
Tara joined Vine Tree Vets in October 2016, previously to joining the Practice Tara worked in retail in Hereford. Tara will gain her qualification, by first completing the Animal Nursing Assistant certificate, (ANA).
In Her free time, Tara can be found walking her naughty Deer hound puppy Arthur and bringing on her young warm blood sports horse Marley for 3 day eventing.
Trainee Animal Nursing Assitant
Jo Joined the Practice in September 2015, she is currently studying for the Animal Nursing Assistant Certificate.
Jo spends her spare time looking after her menagerie of twelve rabbits, one tortoise, a Bearded Dragon, and three dogs. When she has free time Jo volunteers to look after injured and orphaned wild animals there is no surprise that Jo wants to work in the veterinary industry, Jo is also a very keen baker.
Ali Joined the practice in June 2016. originally from Scotland, Ali has lived in Ross with her partner Martin for 22 years and has worked for PGL and Hartpury College before making the move from outdoor adventure to animals! She is a keen horse rider and competes regularly on Gangster as well as looking after dogs Teva adf Kai and cat Dibley. Ali also enjoys singing and can be seen entertaining locally with her band the Alcohoustics.
Amanda qualified in 1997 from Rodbaston College. She moved to Ross in 2003 from the Midlands and now lives with her partner and sons, Tom, Ben and Charlie. She joined the practice in May 2011 after a break from nursing and is very happy to be back working with animals and enjoys the team atmosphere, She moved to the reception team in 2015. She is enjoying the variety of patients we are now treating at the surgery. Amanda currently has two guinea pigs and Bradley the cat. She enjoys cooking, gardening and walking.
Jane is the newest member of the Vine tree Vets team, having joined at the beginning of 2017.
Jane has always had a great interest and love for animals. Having studied Small Animal Care at Holme Lacy College, and previously worked as a Veterinary Receptionist for a mixed veterinary practice in Hereford, Jane is delighted to be back in the veterinary world again, and is thoroughly enjoying being part of the Vine Tree team.
When not at Vine Tree, Jane spends her time with her cat, a rescue GSD and two ponies. She is a dedicated chauffeur for her son Tom, taking him up and down the country with the Ross Rowing Club.
On occasion, Jane has also been spotted pushing her partner David’s “so called” classic cars!
